Confirmed : New deal for Arsenal academy product of Nigerian descent at Doncaster Rovers
Published: December 02, 2021
With a statement on their official website, League One club Doncaster Rovers have confirmed that Nigerian-born center back Joseph Olowu has signed a new deal.
Olowu initially put pen to paper on a short-term contract that would have kept him at Keepmoat Stadium until January 2022 following his release by Arsenal, where he spent eight years.
The 22-year-old has earned himself a new deal until the summer of 2023 after an impressive few months at Doncaster Rovers.
In twelve outings across all competitions for Doncaster Rovers, the young Nigerian defender has scored one goal in 831 minutes of action.
Olowu missed the trip to Burton Albion last weekend as he was serving a suspension following his sending off vs Bolton Wanderers on November 23.
Speaking on his new deal with The Reds, Olowu told the club's official website : "I’ve worked hard since getting my initial deal and to be rewarded with an extension - I’m really happy.
"I’ve enjoyed the settling in process and I have had to be patient but eventually the opportunity came my way.
"I’m glad to get it done and since I signed it’s been something that has been in my mind to sort."

Prior to agreeing terms with Doncaster Rovers, Olowu tried his luck at Manchester United but nothing came out of it.
