Published: December 22, 2021
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that talented defender of Nigerian descent Somto Boniface has been offered a new deal by European champions Chelsea ahead of the 2022-2023 season.
Boniface has been offered a scholarship by the Blues which would keep him at Stamford Bridge until at least the summer of 2024 if he signs on the dotted line.
Chelsea have already identified the 2006-born fullback as one for the future by gradually integrating him into the U18 set-up even before signing his scholarship.
Boniface made his debut in the U18 Premier League against Norwich City in August, lasting the distance in a 3-1 road win, and also put in a full shift against Birmingham City and West Ham United.
His other appearance for the young Blues this season came against Blackburn Rovers in the U18 Premier League Cup.
On the international stage, Boniface played three matches for England U16s last month, starring as the Young Lions won the Val de Marne tournament.
Three players of Nigerian descent in Louis Flower, Tudor Mendel-Idowu and Richard Olise signed scholarship deals with Chelsea in July 2021.
