AFCON 2019 top scorer sends message to Martial after Man Utd striker seals loan move to Sevilla
Published: January 26, 2022Odion Ighalo has wished Anthony Martial well after the Manchester United striker completed his loan move to La Liga side Sevilla on Tuesday following a successful medical.
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer with five goals was teammates with Martial at the Red Devils for a year, on loan from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.
Ighalo, who is very fluent in Spanish, has played in the Spanish top-flight before, making 73 appearances for Granada with thirteen goals and six assists to his name.
Whilst playing at Manchester United, Ighalo helped the Premier League giants reach the semifinals of the Europa League where they lost to the eventual winners Sevilla, and also made his debut in the group stage of the Champions League.
Martial is the second player to join Sevilla in the January transfer window, after Corona who landed from Portuguese club Porto.
After the deal was confirmed, Martial posted on Instagram : "New Chapter @sevillafc".
Replying to Martial's post, Ighalo said : "Good luck Anto".
