Tottenham Hotspur coach Conte promotes Nigerian defender to first team training pre-Man City
Published: February 17, 2022Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte promoted promising London-born Nigerian central defender Tobi Omole to first team training on Wednesday, before his side's trip to the Etihad Stadium, where they face title favourites Manchester City in a Premier League clash.
The Italian football tactician ran the rule over Omole at Tottenham Training Center in Enfield with a view to including him in the traveling squad to Manchester.
Conte promoting Omole to first team training is a significant development as it indicates that he is in the plans of the club despite speculation surrounding his long term future.
The 22-year-old has approximately four months to run on his contract with the Lilywhites and has yet to put pen to paper on the new contract offered to him.
Omole has been registered on Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League roster as a first teamer but has yet to make his top-fight debut and his only squad involvement to date was against Crystal Palace back in September.
The Hale End Academy graduate has faced Football League opposition in the form of Stevenage and Cambridge United in this season's Papa John's Trophy.
Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to return to winning ways after suffering three consecutive defeats against Chelsea, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.
