Paul Onuachu was on the radar of two other clubs in Belgium before sealing a transfer to Racing Genk in the summer of 2019.
Voetbal24 making reference to Het Laatste Nieuws says the Nigeria international was being tracked by KAA Gent and offered by his former Danish intermediary to Club Brugge before ending up at Racing Genk.
Onuachu later signed a multi-year deal with the Limburg club after Club Brugge and Gent passed up the opportunity to sign him.
The FC Ebedei product ended his association with FC Midtjylland in exchange for six million euros.
He has been a success since landing at Genk, helping the club win the Belgian Cup and qualify for the the third round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
On a personal level, Onuachu won the Golden Boot, Ebony Shoe and Belgian Professional Footballer of the Year.
He marked his 100th appearance for Genk with a goal against KV Mechelen on Wednesday.
