Ex-CSKA defender offers tactical blueprint on how Super Eagles can overcome Black Stars
Published: March 29, 2022
Former CSKA Moscow defender Chidi Odiah has backed Austin Eguavoen and Emmanuel Amuneke to lead the Super Eagles to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with a victory this evening in the crucial playoff against the Black Stars of Ghana at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Both sides played out a goalless draw in the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium Kumasi on Friday with Nigeria requiring an outright win while a score draw will take Ghana to the mundial.
Odiah was part of the Nigerian squad to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and took to his Facebook page on Tuesday morning to show his solidarity to the current Super Eagles side.
"There is nothing wrong with the first result in Accra. The Ghanaians had to do everything not to lose at home," Odiah posited.
"Today we are playing at home. You have all the support from us. You have a very good team.
Odiah offers a tactical blueprint on how the Eagles can overcome the Ghanaians.
"Be focused on the objective and give your all. Take control of the game from the very start and maximize all your opportunities and win.
"Victory is all we want. It is non negotiable. We have to be in Qatar. I wish you guys all the best."
Today's match kicks off at 6pm Nigerian time.
