'One of the most dominant strikers in our league' - Serie A chief hails Osimhen after POTM award
Published: March 31, 2022Luigi De Siervo, CEO of Lega Serie A, has hailed Victor Osimhen after the Napoli striker was awarded Player of the Month in the Italian top-flight for the month of March.
The trophy will be presented to Osimhen during the pre-match of Napoli vs Fiorentina, scheduled for Sunday 10th April 2022 at 3.00pm at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples.
The Nigeria national teamer played ninety minutes each in the three matches contested by The Parthenopeans this month, scoring back-to-back braces against Hellas Verona and Udinese, before he reported for international duty on Tuesday, March 22.
The Napoli number 9 started both matches against Ghana in the 2022 World Cup playoff and gave a good account of himself even though he didn't get on the scoresheet.
"Victor Osimhen has now achieved the status of one of the most dominant forwards in our league," said Luigi De Siervo, Lega Serie A CEO to the official website of the Serie A.
"Physical strength, speed, courage and determination make the number 9 one of the leaders of Napoli, an absolute reference point of the offensive plots of the Azzurri, as evidenced by the four goals in three matches in March".
Osimhen is expected to resume training with his Napoli teammates as from Thursday before their Serie A match with Atalanta in Bergamo on Sunday, April 3.
