Samuel Chukwueze injury : Villarreal manager Emery confirms what was said by Amuneke
Published: April 01, 2022
Speaking at Friday's pre-match press conference, Villarreal manager Unai Emery revealed that Samuel Chukwueze will play no part in Saturday afternoon's La Liga clash against Levante.
Chukwueze suffered an injury during Nigeria's goalless draw with Ghana in Kumasi a week ago, leading to his replacement by Emmanuel Dennis on the hour mark.
The right winger was excused from training for three consecutive days upon the team's return to Abuja and wasn't named in the matchday squad for the second leg clash at the MKO Abiola Stadium.
Former Nigeria assistant coach Emmanuel Amuneke, who is very close to Chukwueze having worked with him at club level and the U17 national team, revealed on the eve of the game against the Black Stars that the winger has been diagnosed with a muscle-related injury, and Emery has confirmed as much.
Amuneke said earlier this week : "Chukwueze has some little pains in the back of the muscle."
And Emery told reporters today : "He will not be available due to a small muscle injury."
Chukwueze will be assessed before Villarreal face Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League next Wednesday.
