Chukwueze trains with Villarreal teammates before Champions League clash vs Bayern Munich
Published: April 05, 2022Samuel Chukwueze is seemingly in contention to be included in Villarreal's matchday squad for their Champions League meeting with German champions Bayern Munich at the Estadio de la Cerámica on Wednesday night.
The Yellow Submarine have posted a short video of Monday morning's workout on their official Instagram page and it is confirmed that Chukwueze trained with the rest of his teammates.
The right winger was not in the Villarreal squad beaten 2-0 by Levante at the weekend due a minor muscle-related injury.
Chukwueze suffered the injury in the 2022 World Cup playoff against Ghana in Kumasi on March 25, leading to his replacement on the hour mark and wasn't in the matchday squad for the second leg in Abuja four days later.
Manager Unai Emery will monitor the Super Eagles star as from 1000 hours Nigerian time on Tuesday before his squad announcement.
The 22-year-old has been involved in five of the last six games played by the La Liga side in this season's Champions League and scored on his debut against Young Boys back in October.
Villarreal have lost three of their twelve games against German opponents in European competitions, with two of the defeats coming against Bayern Munich.
