Millwall offer two-year professional contract to talented Nigerian central defender
Published: April 05, 2022
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Millwall are keen on keeping hold of promising Nigerian central defender Chinwike Okoli amid interest from Premier League and Championship clubs.
The Lions offered the 18-year-old his first professional contract this week and he's currently studying the offer.
If Okoli agrees fresh terms with Millwall, he would be putting pen to paper on a two-year contract until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
The stumbling block to a deal is the player's wage demands, with Millwall offering him a paltry 500 pounds per week in the proposed contract.
A clause has been included in the deal that his wages will rise to 1,300 pounds per week if he breaks into the first team on a permanent basis.
Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Cardiff City and Fulham are monitoring the situation of the ball playing center back ahead of a potential move in the summer.
Okoli has played nonstop at Millwall since the age of twelve, joining the club after he was scouted whilst playing grassroots football.
