Tella in the running for Southampton Player of the Season
Published: April 26, 2022
Super Eagles hopeful Nathan Tella is in the running to be named Southampton Player of the Season for the 2021-2022 campaign.
Twenty three first team players have been longlisted for the award, according to the official website of the Saints, with only those with ten or more first-team appearances in 2021-22 eligible for selection.
Tella made the cut having played sixteen first team games so far this season comprising twelve in the Premier League, three in the Carabao Cup and a solitary appearance in the Emirates FA Cup.
The 22-year-old has totaled 948 minutes across those games, scoring one goal and providing two assists in cup competitions.
His appearances would have been more but the winger was on the sidelines for more than two months due to a groin issue.
Tella was rewarded with a new deal in January, keeping him at the St Mary's Stadium until the end of the 2024-2025 season.
He was on the books of Arsenal for a decade before joining the Southampton academy in 2017.
