Anglo-Nigerian starlet trains with Man Utd first team ahead of final match of the season
Published: May 13, 2022
Shola Shoretire has one last chance to make his first and only appearance in this season's Premier League when Manchester United take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in their last competitive game of the season on May 22.
The Anglo-Nigerian starlet has been training with Manchester United's first team at Carrington this week, including today, as he aims to convince interim manager Ralf Rangnick to hand him game time against the Eagles.
The absences of Jadon Sancho and Paul Pogba have increased the chances of Shoretire being included in the traveling squad to the English capital as he is capable of playing as a midfielder and winger.
Many saw Shoretire as a potential first team player considering that he made three appearances for the first team of the Red Devils in the second half of last season and at the age of seventeen, but was constantly overlooked for first team duties this term.
He was on the bench for the penultimate home game of the season against Chelsea - his only squad involvement to date for a Premier League game in 2021-2022.
One of the most promising players in the Manchester United academy, he directly participated in 18 goals in 29 appearances for the youth teams this season.
