Three Lions boss Southgate considers giving 2017 Super Eagles invitee first England call-up

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate is reportedly considering Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze for a call-up to the England senior national team.

The Sun says Eze is closing in on an England call-up ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after impressing Southgate since return from injury.

Crystal Palace is a club on the radar of the England coaching staff, with Tyrick Mitchell and Marc Guéhi recently earning invitations to the Three Lions.

Eze was in contention to be included in England's provisional squad for the 2020 European Championship but suffered an achilles injury in training that kept him out of action for six months.

The 23-year-old is now nearing his best form again after fully recovering from injury, making three consecutive starts in the Premier League for the first time this season when the Eagles defeated Watford last weekend.

Eze, who was invited to train with the Super Eagles in 2017, played non-binding games for England U20s before becoming provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth at U21 level.

Nigeria Football Federation boss Amaju Pinnick has held discussions with the Crystal Palace star over switching his international allegiance and turning out for the Nigeria national team but the player requested to be given time to make his decision as he wants to focus on his club career.
