Breaking : Nigerian CB ends speculation over future by signing new deal with Millwall
Published: May 17, 2022
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that promising Nigerian central defender Chinwike Okoli has ended speculation over his future by signing a new contract with Championship outfit Millwall.
It is confirmed that the teenager put pen to paper on his first professional contract with the Lions on Tuesday, May 17.
He has signed a one-year deal with the option of an additional season.
Okoli signing on the dotted line is a big blow to Premier League and Championship clubs who were exploring ways to sign him.
Premier League new boys Fulham and Bournemouth, Aston Villa as well as Cardiff City were monitoring the situation of the ball playing centre-back ahead of a potential move in the summer.
Although he hasn't made his debut for the senior team yet, he has been invited to train with the first team on multiple occasions.
Okoli has played nonstop at Millwall since the age of twelve, joining the club after he was scouted whilst playing grassroots football.
Millwall were ninth in the final Championship table, missing the playoffs by six points.
