Championship club Cardiff City have confirmed the signing of Nigeria international Jamilu Collins on a two-year deal.

The left-back's transfer to the Bluebirds is with effect from July 1, 2022, a day after his contract with German club SC Paderborn 07 expires, and the agreement between club and player is subject to the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate from the German Football Association.

Collins is set to complete his transfer to Cardiff City as a free agent after deciding not to renew his contract with Paderborn, for whom he made 137 appearances.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, he told Cardiff City's official website : "I’m really excited to be in Cardiff, and I can’t wait to get started.

"The Club has great history, and when I got the call to come to Cardiff, I was so excited, I couldn’t resist. I’m looking forward to the challenge of the new season.

"The goal is to fight for the Premier League. I can’t wait to meet the supporters and to fight for the jersey."

A member of the Super Eagles squads to the 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, Collins has 25 caps to his name for the senior national team.

On his curriculum vitae, he has played for Croatian clubs NK Pomorac, HNK Šibenik and Istra 1961 in the past.
