What does the future hold for Anjorin at Chelsea?
Published: May 26, 2022
Chelsea's Cobham academy is one of the most consistent producers of highly talented young players in the world.
With the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Trevor Chalobah, Andreas Christensen and many others coming through the ranks at Cobham, it is safe to say that it is one of the best academies in world football.
One of the best youngsters of the next generation coming through Cobham is mesmerizing Anglo-Nigerian attacking midfield player Faustino Anjorin.
The 20-year-old spent the second half of the 2021/2022 season on loan at Huddersfield Town, and has performed admirably since he arrived at the Terriers scoring one goal in 7 Championship appearances.
Anjorin has contributed to the Terriers push for a Premier League return with a playoff final against Nottingham Forest on May 29 at the Wembley stadium the only obstacle left to achieve the dream for a team that has been relegated since 2019.
However, as his return date to Stamford bridge draws closer, what does the future hold for Anjorin?
Three options are on the cards. A quick sale for Chelsea to fund the rebuild of the defence, integrating him into the first-team setup or another loan to continue his development.
Option number three is the most likely as Chelsea won't want to sell such a highly rated young prospect very quickly unless a big offer lands on the table.
The Blues have learnt their lesson from the quick sale they sanctioned on Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah.
Both parties (Anjorin and Chelsea) will most likely not want him to remain at the club without the necessary game-time required for his development except a drastic situation comes up so it is most likely that the Anglo-Nigerian will be sent out on loan once again.
However, a loan to a mid-table Premier League club would be better so that the player can experience consecutive Premier League games and come to terms with the rhythm.
