'La Liga the best in the world' - Real Madrid product Adepoju reacts to UCL win vs Liverpool
Published: May 29, 2022Real Madrid won a record-extending fourteenth Champions League after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Premier League side Liverpool at the Stade de France - Saint-Denis on Saturday night.
No player of Nigerian decent was on parade as Carlo Ancelotti opted against naming Marvin Akinlabi, who was registered for the knockout rounds of the competition, and promising defender Marvelous Antolín Garzón in his traveling squad to France.
Marvelous was eligible to be named on Los Blancos B List for the 2021-2022 Champions League as he was born in 2003 and has played non-stop at the club for six years.
In a game dominated by Liverpool especially in the first half, it was the Spaniards that netted the only goal of the game against the run of play through Vinícius Júnior, who tapped in at the far post after he was played onside by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Real Madrid academy product Mutiu Adepoju was delighted after his former club won the Champions League at the expense of Liverpool and labeled the Spanish La Liga the 'best football league in the world'.
Writing on Twitter shortly after the game, Adepoju stated : "Real Madrid's #UCL victory is an indication that #LaLiga is without doubt the best football league in the world.
"A big congratulations to all Madridistas across the globe and to all those working hard for the growth of LaLiga."

Adepoju made 175 career appearances in La Liga for two different clubs Racing Santander and Real Sociedad, mustering twenty two goals.
A bona fide Real Madrid Castilla hero, the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations-winning midfielder was on the books of Real Madrid for three years and left the La Liga giants in 1992 without making his senior debut.
