Published: June 03, 2022
Glasgow Rangers have released Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun following the expiry of his contract, informs the official website of the Scottish Cup winners for the 2021-2022 season.
The 33-year-old joined Rangers in the summer of 2020 on a one-year deal and extended his stay at the Ibrox Stadium the following season after starring as the Light Blues won the Scottish Premiership.
In his final season with Rangers, Balogun made 37 all-competition appearances, helping the club to the final of the Europa League before succumbing to a defeat from Jose Mourinho's Roma.

Overall, he appeared in sixty five matches across all competitions during his two-year association with Rangers, with forty of those games coming in the Scottish top-flight, and was on target on two occasions while registering three assists.
Balogun had stops at Türkiyemspor Berlin, Hannover 96, Werder Bremen, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Darmstadt 98 and Mainz 05 before moving to England, where he played for Brighton & Hove and Wigan Athletic.
The German-born centre-back was originally named on the Super Eagles roster for their international friendlies with Mexico and Ecuador in the United States but pulled out of the squad due to injury.
