Official : Promising striker of Nigerian descent signs scholarship deal with West Ham
Published: June 04, 2022
English Premier League club West Ham United revealed their new intake of academy scholars earlier this week, specifically June 1.
Ahead of the 2022-2023 season, nine promising teenagers put pen to paper on a scholarship deal with the Academy at a special evening, held in their honour, at the West Ham United Rush Green training ground.
Allnigeriasoccer.com has done some digging and can confirm that a left-footed striker of Nigerian descent, Jemiah Umolu is among the new intake and will begin the first year of his scholarship with the Hammers on July 1, 2022.
Umolu attends Kingsford Community School, a secondary school in Beckton, East London.
He has already made his debut in the U18 Premier League, whilst still a schoolboy, and got on the scoresheet in his second appearance in the division as the Hammers beat West Brom 5-2 on January 8, 2022.
The West Ham website describes him as a strong number 9 with good technical attributes, has a real eye for goal and is a handful for any defenders he plays against.
Umolu has been promoted to West Ham U18 squad and is eligible to represent the club in the Premier League 2.
