Two ways Tuchel can utilize Nigeria-eligible midfielder next season if he remains at Chelsea
Published: June 21, 2022
Chelsea's Cobham academy is one of the best in the world when it comes to producing exceptional young players.
Cobham has produced some of the top players in world football, including Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Trevor Chalobah, Andreas Christensen, and a host of others.
Tino Anjorin, an Anglo-Nigerian offensive midfielder, is one of the greatest prospects coming out of Cobham.
When he was loaned to Huddersfield Town in the second half of the 2021/2022 season, he played admirably, netting one goal in seven Championship appearances during his time there.
As the new season approaches, the Blues are in search of reinforcements for the team and it is not yet determined if Anjorin would be going out on loan or remain at Stamford Bridge.
In the eventuality that the Anglo-Nigerian remains at the club for the 2022/2023 season, allnigeriasoccer analyses two ways he can be utilised by Chelsea's German manager Thomas Tuchel.
Saul Niguez or Ruben Loftus-Cheek replacement
The Atletico Madrid midfielder was not retained after his season-long loan to Stamford Bridge. During his time at the club, he was largely used as third/fourth choice rotation for the first-choice midfield pair and also in cup games.
Instead of looking to sign another player on loan or for a fee to cover the position, Anjorin could take up the spot as there would be enough minutes to be shared around which will be crucial for his development.
Like Saul, the English midfielder has largely been a rotational option for Tuchel since the German manager's arrival at the club. If he leaves for more game-time or stays, Anjorin could be the backup or replacement for him.
Early Cup Round games
Chelsea would be participating in four competitions next season and surely needs a big squad to compete properly.
The early FA and Carabao cup rounds are a perfect avenue to rest first-team players which will provide valuable game-time for Anjorin.
