Official : Premier League new boys make ex-Liverpool striker Awoniyi club record signing
Published: June 25, 2022Through a statement on their official website, English Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of former Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
Though the transfer fee has not been disclosed, Nottingham Forest have confirmed that they broke their transfer record to bring the Nigeria international to the City Ground.
A fee in the region of 20 million euros has been mooted as the figure in the striker's release clause which was activated by Nottingham Forest.
Awoniyi has put pen to paper on a five-year deal, keeping him at Nottingham Forest until the end of the 2026-2027 season.

Commenting on his move to Forest, the 2013 U17 World Cup winner said : "I'm very excited to be here at Nottingham Forest.
"It's always been my dream to play in the Premier League and having spoken to Steve Cooper about our ambitions and looking at Forest, with its great history, it's a club that I want to be part of."
Awoniyi joined Union Berlin on in 2020, first on loan, before sealing a permanent transfer the following season, and departs the Bundesliga club after mustering 25 goals in 65 appearances.
The 24-year-old enjoyed loan spells at FSV Frankfurt, NEC, Mouscron, Gent and Mainz 05 as a Liverpool player.
