Opinion : Four ways Crystal Palace's new Nigerian signing can utilised by Patrick Vieira
Published: June 28, 2022The transfer of the 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee to Crystal Palace has been finalized with the former Chelsea and Arsenal academy youngster returning to London.
After signing a five-year contract that will keep him at Selhurst Park until 2027, Patrick Vieira has got another weapon in his arsenal ahead of next season.
Ebiowei is highly talented and allnigeriasoccer.com takes a look at four ways the quick-footed winger can be utilized by Patrick Vieira at Selhurst Park next season.
Full 4-3-3
Patrick Vieira has always tried to shoehorn two strikers into his 4-3-3 formation. The arrival of Ebiowei allows the former Arsenal captain to fully expand his formation as the youngster is primarily a touchline winger who has the skill set to play in multiple positions across the frontline.
Super-sub
With the five substitution rule kicking in next season, Vieira can utilize Ebiowei as an option against tired legs when games are tight and there is a need to throw on more attackers.
Competition
Alongside tricky men like Eberechi Eze, Micheal Olise and Wilfried Zaha, there would be healthy competition for who gets minutes which would push every one of them to give their best every game.
Counter-attack
Since Vieira arrived at Crystal Palace, his team has always tried to control matches as much as possible. Ebiowei is a burner with raw pace and a relentless dribbling attitude.
His dribbling style is also very good in winning fouls and freekicks in dangerous areas.
Vieira can use him as a counter-attacking weapon as Ebiowei is good and comfortable at receiving the ball while running in space.
Eze, Olise and Zaha on the other hand, prefer to have the ball at their feet.
