Opinion : Which Super Eagles players are at the level needed to do a job for Chelsea?
Published: July 01, 2022
The transfer window is rumbling on and clubs around the world are already committing to deals that would strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.
The Premier League especially has seen the arrival of huge players like Erling Braut Haaland, and Darwin Nunez among others.
Chelsea are amongst the clubs who are on the hunt for players to strengthen their squad with the club progressing in a deal for Juventus' De Ligt and jumping into the forefront for Leeds's Brazilian winger Raphinha.
However, with the exodus of key players leaving Stamford Bridge like Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, allnigeriasoccer.com takes a look at Super Eagles players who are already at a level needed to do a job for Chelsea next season.
Victor Osimhen
The Napoli hitman is far ahead in his development as a modern-day striker. His attributes are also fitting in Thomas Tuchel's 3-4-2-1 formation.
With the departure of Romelu Lukaku on loan to Inter Milan, there is space in the Chelsea squad for another striker as Timo Werner is the only recognised senior striker available.
While Osimhen's value may not be worth his 100 million Euros valuation, he would no doubt do a job for the Blues if signed.
Wilfred Ndidi
The Leicester City player has been one of the best defensive midfielders the Premier League has to offer in recent years. With N'Golo Kante advancing in age and prone to injuries, Ndidi is at the level where he can deputise for the Frenchman.
His ability to play as a single pivot as well as a double will also bring another dimension to the Blues.
Samuel Chukwueze
With Moroccan midfielder Hakim Ziyech not performing up to expectations at Stamford Bridge, the Blues are already trying to sign Brazilian winger Raphinha from Leeds United.
However, as a depth and competitive option, Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze is quite capable of doing a job for the Blues.
Joe Aribo
As a rotational option for the likes of Mateo Kovacic and replacement for Barkley, Niguez or Loftus-Cheek, Aribo is a solid option.
The lanky midfielder has the quality, range, engine and versatility to be a useful cog for Thomas Tuchel's squad.
The above-named players may not be Chelsea's first options for a transfer but they certainly are at a level where they have the quality to do a job for the Blues.
