Ipswich Town youth teamer Jesse Nwabueze has confirmed that four Premier League clubs namely Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur explored the possibility of signing him before Ipswich Town won the race for his signature in 2020.

The Tractor Boys announced on Friday, July 1 that the promising winger has signed his first professional contract with the club - a reward for his impressive displays over the last two seasons for the youth teams.

Nwabueze was Ipswich Town U18s top scorer in 2021-2022 with a total goal contribution of twenty (13 goals, 7 assists) and was one of the standout players as Town beat Coventry City 7-0 to lift the Professional Development League Cup in April 2022.

On his footballing journey, Nwabueze told allnigeriasoccer.com : "My footballing journey started in Dundalk, Ireland playing for a team called Glenmuir United, then in 2018 I moved to Crystal Palace.

"In September 2020, I signed as a scholar at Ipswich Town.

"I was also on trial at Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Stoke City before signing at Ipswich, all within 2018-2020.

"My role models in football are Eberechi Eze and Austin Jay-Jay Okocha."

Nwabueze has the ability to dribble past opponents with impeccable speed and elegance, possesses great vision, technical abilities and an immense work rate.

He predominantly plays as a left winger, though can also play as a striker and attacking midfielder.
