Confirmed : Super Eagles midfielder joins Italian Serie B club
Published: July 20, 2022Through a press release, Italian Serie B club Reggina 1914 announced on Wednesday that they have reached an agreement for the signing of Nigeria international Joel Obi.
The attacking midfielder has joined the Gli Amaranto on a two-year contract, until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
He will be presented to the media and fans on Thursday, July 21, starting from 1145 hours.
Obi was a free agent prior to agreeing terms with Reggina following the expiry of his contract at Salernitana.

A product of the Inter Milan academy, Obi has previous Serie B experience, making 56 appearances across two seasons at Chievo Verona.
Apart from the aforementioned teams, Obi's other clubs in Italy include Torino and Parma, and he was on loan at Turkish club Alanyaspor for the second half of the 2018-19 season.
Obi was a member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2018 World Cup, however, he was a non-playing substitute in all the matches played by the national team in Russia.
His last appearance for the Super Eagles was against England in a pre-World Cup friendly four years ago.
