Confirmed : Scottish Premiership new boys loan in Arsenal right back of Nigerian descent
Published: July 21, 2022Through their official website, Scottish Premiership new boys Kilmarnock FC have announced the loan signing of promising Arsenal right-back of Nigerian descent Ryan Alebiosu.
The defender will be spending the entirety of the 2022-2023 season at Kilmarnock - his second loan club since joining Arsenal at the age of eight.
Alebiosu got his first taste of men's football during a loan spell at demoted League One club Crewe Alexandra in the second half of last season but a back injury limited his appearances to six games.
The 20-year-old made 14 appearances for Arsenal's development squad last term, scoring one goal and registering five assists and faced Football League opposition in the form of Newport County, Plymouth and Ipswich Town in the Papa John's Trophy.
Alebiosu was a non-playing substitute against Burnley and Liverpool in last season's Premier League and Carabao Cup respectively.
Commenting on his move to Kilmarnock, he said : "It feels great to be here, it is a wonderful opportunity to show what I can do in this division as well as show my home club what I can do.
"I’m not that familiar with the league but I know it is a very good league, its very tough and a challenge I am looking forward to.
"I believe I can help the team attacking and defending and hope to contribute goals and assists."
Hale End Academy graduate Alebiosu signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in the summer of 2020.
