'He has not yet expressed all his talent' - Napoli left-back rates Osimhen highly
Published: July 27, 2022
Napoli's Portugal international left-back Mário Rui rates his teammate Victor Osimhen highly but has admitted that the Super Eagles star is not yet displaying all his talents.
Osimhen scooped the U23 Best Young Player award in the Serie A last term on the back of an outstanding season that saw him register fourteen goals in 27 matches in the division and helping Napoli qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
There are transfer rumours linking him with possible moves to clubs in the Premier League, La Liga and German Bundesliga but everything is pointing to the fact that he will be staying put at Napoli at the end of the summer transfer window.
The stumbling block to a deal is Napoli's asking price for the 23-year-old, with the Blues valuing him in excess of 100 million euros.
Osimhen earned a transfer to Napoli after notching 18 goals in 38 appearances for Lille, becoming the most expensive African-born player at seventy million euros.
"I already knew something about him because I had seen him in Lille, then when he arrived in Naples I saw him up close and he demonstrates his qualities which are very important.
"In my opinion he has not yet expressed all his talent," Rui told Radio Kiss Kiss, via Calciomercato.
Osimhen has participated in Napoli's first two friendlies in pre-season, against Anaune and Perugia, and got on the scoresheet once.
