Opinion: Three reasons Manchester United may regret overlooking Super Eagles star

The transfer window is gradually coming to an end with the new Premier League season set to kick off on Friday 5th of August 2022.
As expected, clubs are scrambling to get their deals over the line and Manchester United is one of the clubs linked with making some late decisive moves.
It is no news that the club has been linked with Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong but there have been few developments regarding the Dutchman's transfer.
While it is clear that Manchester United is undergoing a major squad rebuild with Erik Ten Hag at the forefront, the Red Devils may regret overlooking Nigeria's Victor Osimhen during this first phase of their rebuild.
Below, allnigeriasoccer.com highlights three reasons why.
Competition
A lot of teams would be needing strikers next season. Chelsea will most likely look to replace Romelu Lukaku, Real Madrid may be looking to get competition or replace Karim Benzema who would be 35 years old.
Even Barcelona may need to find a younger striker to Lewandowski. The competition for Osimhen's signature may be too high.
Transfer fee
Osimhen is already delivering consistent top-class performances. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is known to be a tough negotiator and there are reports that he is demanding 100 million Euros this summer for Osimhen.
While that price currently seems unrealistic, if Osimhen goes on to have a stellar season, De Laurentiis will most likely demand higher or stand firm on his initial valuation.
Shortage
There aren't many top-class strikers around available for transfers. The teams who have them are reluctant in selling them or demanding ridiculous fees.
Osimhen is a top striker and this may be the only chance to have a straightforward run at signing him.
