Ajax confirm squad number for Super Eagles defender for 2022-2023 season
Published: August 03, 2022Through their official website, Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam have confirmed their full list of squad numbers for the first team players ahead of their opening Eredivisie match.
Nigeria international Calvin Bassey will wear the number 33 at the back of his jersey in 2022-2023.
Signed from Glasgow Rangers last month for a Nigerian transfer record for a defender, Bassey wore the squad number when he made his competitive debut for Ajax last weekend against PSV Eindhoven.

The 22-year-old has been suspended for two matches after being sent off less than sixteen minutes after his introduction in the 5-3 loss to PSV, so he's not available for selection to face Fortuna Sittard (August 6) and the first home game of the season versus Groningen (August 14).
Przemyslaw Tyton, Dominik Kotarski,, Konstantinos Lamprou,, Diederik Boer, Joël Veltman, Vurnon Anita, Robbert Schilder and Thomas Vermaelen previously wore the number 33 kit at Ajax.
During his time at Ibrox Stadium, Bassey was given the number 3 and was assigned number 21 in the four appearances he made for the Super Eagles this summer.
