La Liga 2 club working on deal to sign Real Madrid's Spanish-Nigerian winger
Published: August 07, 2022
La Liga 2 club Las Palmas are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid's Spanish-Nigerian winger Marvin Akinlabi.
According to Spanish daily sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Las Palmas are very close to reaching an agreement with the Real Madrid academy product.
Akinlabi was left out of Real Madrid's training camp that began on August 1 in Galicia amid speculation linking him with a departure from Los Blancos.
Per the report, Las Palmas are planning to offload Ale Díez, Ferigra and Óscar Pinchi before confirming the arrival of Akinlabi.
The 22-year-old has registered four appearances for Real Madrid's first team and was an unused substitute against Liverpool in a UEFA Champions League clash at Anfield in April 2021.
Akinlabi has been on the books of Real Madrid since the summer of 2016, starting off with their Juvenil C before rising through the ranks and earning promotion to Real Madrid Castilla.
He has made fifty-nine appearances for Real Madrid Castilla, scoring four goals and assisting three others.
The former Tranmere Rovers youth teamer was a member of the Real Madrid squad that won the UEFA Youth League in 2020.
