Super Eagles-eligible wing-back set to undergo medical ahead of Tottenham Hotspur move
Published: August 08, 2022Tottenham Hotspur are getting closer to signing Super Eagles-eligible wing-back Destiny Udogie, according to reports.
London Evening Standard claims that it is not necessary for Udogie to travel to Hotspur Way base to conclude the deal.
Per the report, the plan is for the Italy U21 international to undergo the routine medical examinations in Italy before signing a five-year contract with the north London club.
Udogie is expected to be immediately loaned back to Udinese, where he will finish the 2022-2023 season, before returning to Spurs next summer.
Tottenham had a similar arrangement with Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, who was acquired from Metz where he remained on loan last season and then joined Spurs in recent weeks.
Antonio Conte's team are well covered in the left-back position with Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic, and there is also Sergio Reguilon, who is surplus to requirements.
Udogie is tied to Udinese for the next four seasons, joining them on a permanent deal this summer following a successful loan spell in 2021-2022.
