Announcement imminent : Southampton's Nigerian winger joins Burnley, subject to medical
Published: August 11, 2022Championship outfit Burnley are reportedly on the verge of announcing the signing of Southampton's Nigerian winger Nathan Tella.
The Athletic UK says Tella is set to undergo a medical ahead of completing a season-long loan move to the Clarets.
Burnley, who are coached by the legendary Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany, have pulled off a transfer coup by luring Tella to Turf Moor as other English clubs and top European teams were interested in signing him this summer.
Since making his senior debut, the versatile winger has registered 41 all-competition appearances for Southampton, scoring two goals while notching five assists.
The 23-year-old has played nonstop at Southampton since April 2017, joining them on scholarship terms after a successful trial following his release by Arsenal, where he spent ten years.
Tella signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract in January, keeping him at the St Mary's Stadium until June 30, 2025.
Burnley are seeking an immediate return to the Premier League and have four points from their opening two matches in the second-tier in the new season.
