Super Eagles prospect Amoo makes his comeback from injury for FC Copenhagen
Published: August 14, 2022
Super Eagles prospect Akinkunmi Amoo made his comeback from injury as FC Copenhagen were beaten 3-1 by Randers on matchday five of the Danish Super Liga on Friday, August 12.
The 2022 Super Eagles invitee had not figured for the Danish champions in a competitive game since March 20, 2022 before the visit of Randers.
Amoo missed some part of Copenhagen's pre-season preparations after suffering an injury at their training camp in the Netherlands.
After he was left out of the opening three matches of the new campaign, the Sidos FC product returned to the matchday squad in the penultimate round of matches against Brondby but was not utilized off the bench by manager Jess Thorup.
Amoo's season debut came in the 74th minute when he was brought on as a replacement for Ísak Bergmann Jóhannesson, with FC Copenhangen trailing Randers 3-1.
Despite taking the lead through Valdemar Lund Jensen, FC Copenhagen suffered defeat as the visitors equalised through Austrian-Nigerian striker Marvin Egho before goals from Frederik Lauenborg and Hugo Andersson.
Amoo has now played 51 senior games since moving to Europe in the summer of 2020, with three of those matches in the colours of FC Copenhagen.
