Chelsea's Chukwuemeka left out of squad as Kane's late goal recuses Tottenham in 2-2 draw

Stamford Bridge welcomed ex-manager Antonio Conte with his Tottenham Hotspur team in the second game-week of the new Premier League season.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw as both teams shared the spoils with new signing Kalidou Koulibaly getting on the score-sheet through a well-taken strike in the first half.

Hojbjerg then equalised with a clean long-range goal after some ping-pong build-up before Reece James restored the Blues' lead in the 77th minute.

A controversial injury-time equaliser from Harry Kane ensured a draw.

Thomas Tuchel left out Nigeria-eligible midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from the squad which faced Spurs at Stamford Bridge.

The 18-year-old midfielder was signed by the Blues from Premier League side Aston Villa for a fee in the region of 20 million pounds two weeks ago after he refused to pen a new contract at Villa Park.

The Anglo-Nigerian was also left out of Chelsea's trip to Goodison Park where Chelsea won with a slim 1-0 scoreline courtesy of a penalty goal from Italian midfielder Jorginho.

Chukwuemeka's absence from the squad is understandable given that he is competing with more experienced players such as Conor Gallagher, Jorginho, N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek for a starting spot in midfield.
