Osimhen on target for Napoli in 4-0 rout of Serie A new boys
Published: August 21, 2022
Nigeria International, Victor Osimhen, was on the scoresheet in SSC Napoli's big win over Monza.
Osimhen's goal aided the Naples based outfit to a dominant 4-0 win over the newly promoted club.
This is the second consecutive game that the lanky forward is finding the back of the net.
He bagged his goal in the dying minutes of the first half following an assist from Cameroon's Zambo Anguissa.
Napoli who were favorites to win the encounter started the first half like a house on fire but were let down by their wastefulness in front of goal.
The breakthrough finally came in the 35th minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored a belter.
The left winger got a lose ball, dibbled past an on rushing opponent before curling the ball into the top right corner.
Osimhen went on to double the lead late in the first half, some seconds before halftime whistle was blown.
Napoli got their third in the 62nd minute, with Kvaratskhelia grabbing his second of the game in the process.
The thumping of Monza was completed in the 93rd minute when Min-Jae Kim found the net.
The 23-year-old Nigerian's goal involvement in the 2022/2023 season now stands at 3 (2 goals and an assist).
It was also a record breaking encounter for Osimhen as he bagged his 30th goal in the shirts of the Parthenopeans.
The win takes Napoli to the top spot of the Serie A table, edging out Inter Milan on goal difference.
