Confirmed : Slavia Prague loan out former Nigeria U23 international
Published: August 25, 2022With a statement on their official website, Czech First League side Mlada Boleslav have announced the signing of former Nigeria U23 international Ubong Ekpai.
Slavia Prague have loaned out the versatile winger to Mlada Boleslav for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season.
Ahead of their league game against Pardubice on Saturday, Ekpai has already started training with his new teammates at Mlada Boleslav, under the guidance of manager Pavel Hoftych.
Commenting on the signing of Ekpai, Hoftych said : "We used the opportunity to agree on a loan with the player and the club, he is a speedy type of footballer who knows how to navigate the opponent's penalty area.
"When he captures the team's well-being, he is a player with a difference, with his arrival we have multiplied our options on the wings."
Ekpai is popular in Nigerian football circles for scoring the winner in a pre-Olympic Games friendly against Brazil in March 2016.
The 26-year-old turned out for Akwa United FC and Kano Pillars FC before moving to Israel's Maccabi Haifa in June 2016 .
His other clubs include FC Slovan Liberec, Zlín, Viktoria Plzeň, České Budějovice and Banik Ostrava.
