Official : Nigeria's 2014 World Cup star joins Italian fourth tier club
Published: August 29, 2022With a statement on their official website, Italian fourth tier club Casertana F.C have announced with pride the signing of Nigeria's 2014 World Cup star Eddy Onazi.
The length and financial terms of the contract signed by the Super Eagles midfielder have not been disclosed by The Little Falcons.
The former Golden Eaglets player trained with the Super Eagles home based team before their trip to Cape Coast for a 2023 African Nations Championship qualifier versus Ghana.
Onazi has returned to Italian football six years after he departed Lazio for Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig.
With Lazio, the central midfielder played 110 matches in all competitions, netting seven goals, including a decisive strike against Napoli which in 2015 allowed the Biancocelesti to return to the Champions League after eight years of absence.
On his curriculum vitae, Onazi has also worn the colours of Denizlispor, SønderjyskE Fodbold, Žalgiris and Al-Adalah in the past.
The 29-year-old will be presented to the press and fans on Monday, August 29 at 1800 hours in the 'Mario Iannotta' press room of the 'Pinto' stadium.
