Nigeria squad announcement : Arsenal striker, 34 others named to Flamingos roster

Manager Bankole Olowookere has invited 35 players to camp as the U17 Girls National Team, Flamingos commence preparations for the 7th FIFA U17 Women's World Cup taking place in India in the month of October.

 

An analysis of the roster revealed that five goalkeepers, eleven defenders, six midfielders and thirteen strikers have been invited to the training camp.

 

Arsenal Women striker Tolulope Adubairo has earned a call-up to the Nigeria U17s team and she's one of the four foreign-based players named to the roster, the others being LA Galaxy forward Daniella Alali, IFK Goteborg midfielder Alima Alasse and United Kingdom-based goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor.


Team captain Alvine Dah-Zossu, first choice goalkeeper Faith Omilana, defenders Miracle Usani, Blessing Sunday, Comfort Folorunsho and Tumininu Adeshina, midfielders Blessing Emmanuel and Taiwo Afolabi, and forwards Opeyemi Ajakaye and Aminat Bell have all been invited to camp.

 

Nigeria defeated Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt and Ethiopia to qualify for this year's FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, winning five of their six matches in the process.

 

The Flamingos will face Germany, Chile and New Zealand in the group stage of the 2022 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, which will be staged in India October 11-30.
