Official : Nigerian-Ghanaian centre-back joins Rayo Vallecano
Published: September 01, 2022Through a statement on their official website, La Liga club Rayo Vallecano have announced the signing of Accra-born central defender of Nigerian descent Abdul Mumim.
The 24-year-old has joined Rayo Vallecano from Portuguese setup Vitória Guimarães SC and has put pen to paper on a four-year contract valid until the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Mumim has yet to be capped at international level for his country of birth Ghana, making him eligible to play for the Super Eagles.
He was a member of the Black Stars squad to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and was a non-playing substitute in a 2022 World Cup playoff against the Super Eagles in Kumasi back in March.
In the last three seasons, the defender played 61 matches for Vitória Guimarães including four appearances in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.
Vitória Guimarães have confirmed that they will receive a transfer fee of 1.5 million euros from Rayo Vallecano and also get fifty percent of any future sale of the Nigerian-Ghanaian player.
