Official : Two-time Spanish champions complete signing of Super Eagles striker
Published: September 01, 2022With a statement on their official website, two-time Spanish champions Real Sociedad have announced the signing of Super Eagles forward Sadiq Umar.
Sadiq, who joins the Basque county based club from UD Almeria, now has a contract valid until 2028.
Sadiq leaves La Liga Santander returnees, UD Almeria two years after joining from Partizan Belgrade.
The 25-year-old during his stint at the Power Horse Stadium made 84 appearances, contributing to 62 goals (43 goals and 19 assists).
Sadiq was one of Almeria's standout players in 2021-2022, spearheading their promotion to the Spanish topflight.
He scored 18 goals and provided 12 assists in 36 La Liga Smart Bank games.
The 2016 Olympic games bronze medalist will be looking forward to helping La Real challenge for the UEFA Europa League crown and having a decent outing in the domestic league and cup tournament.
Sadiq has played in three La Liga Santander games this season, and has scored twice.
He has previously played for AS Roma, Torino, Bologna, Spezia, Glasgow Rangers, Partizan Belgrade and NAC Breda.
