Confirmed : Queens Park Rangers loan in Aston Villa midfielder Iroegbunam
Published: September 01, 2022Queens Park Rangers have announced the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam on loan for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season.
A European U19 champion with the Young Lions in the summer, the Nigeria-eligible youngster reunites with Hoops coach Mick Beale who was in the Aston Villa dugout as part of Steven Gerrard's coaching staff when the Anglo-Nigerian made his professional debut against Brighton & Hove six months ago.
Iroegbunam progressed through the youth team ranks at West Bromwich Albion before joining Aston Villa last summer.
The 19-year-old has received twenty-six call-ups for first team games as an Aston Villa, making three appearances as a substitute and one as a starter.
Speaking to the official website of QPR, Iroegbunam said : "I’m feeling excited,” he said. “I can’t wait to get started and I’m ready to bring all I can to the team.
"I knew QPR would be a good team to come to because I was with the gaffer last season and I know he likes to play football. That attracted me.
"We got on well last season and I am looking forward to rebuilding that again."
Iroegbunam links up with Nigeria international centre-back Leon Balogun at Queens Park Rangers.
