Atalanta 1 Cremonese 1 : 21 yo Nigeria-eligible CB impresses; Lookman, Dessers, Okereke in action
Published: September 11, 2022Ademola Lookman was in action for 77 minutes for Serie A side Atalanta while fellow Nigerian internationals Cyriel Dessers and David Okereke played for 83 and 68 minutes respectively in Atalanta's 1-1 draw against Cremonose on Sunday afternoon at the Gewiss Stadium.
The first half was uneventful and ended goalless but came to life in the second half
However the most outstanding performance by a Nigerian on the day came from unheralded 21 year-old centre-back Caleb Okoli.
Former Juventus defender Merih Demiral perfect header guided Koopmeiners’ free kick into the back of the net in the 74th minute.
Emanuele Valeri however equalised for the away side moments later after some sloppy piece of defending.
Okoli made two tackles, four interceptions and two clearances. He committed two fouls in the course of the match.
Okereke who is a former Nigeria U-23 player made one key pass in the game.
Both teams struggled hard to score the vital second goal but settled for a draw.
