Arsenal cannot recall Super Eagles-eligible striker from loan spell in January 2023
Published: September 15, 2022
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Super Eagles-eligible striker Folarin Balogun will spend the entirety of the season at French Ligue 1 club Stade de Reims.
Arsenal, Balogun's parent club, cannot recall the red-hot striker when the transfer window reopens for business in January 2023 simply because they didn't include a clause that allows them to terminate the deal before its expiration next summer.
The Hale End Academy product has shown that he can play for the first team of a club in the top five European Leagues with a string of outstanding displays for Stade de Reims.
In seven appearances in the French top flight, five of which he started, Balogun has mustered five goals while registering an assist.
On the back of his form, the 21-year-old was awarded the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Month for August 2022.
Balogun decided to try his luck in a new League after the signing of Gabriel Jesus and the return of Reiss Nelson from his loan spell at Feyenoord saw him drop down the pecking order of strikers at the Emirates Stadium.
In addition, Eddie Nketiah had been tipped for the exit door, only for him to make a U-turn and sign a new deal.
