Arteta runs the rule over 15yo midfielder of Nigerian descent final workout pre-Brentford
Published: September 17, 2022Highly talented attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri rubbed shoulders with Arsenal first team stars on Saturday, September 17, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta invited the 15-year-old Nwaneri to train with the senior squad today, the team's final workout before their Premier League meeting with London neighbors Brentford on Sunday.
Arteta ran the rule over the Anglo-Nigerian wonderkid during the workout held at London Colney in St Albans.
Nwaneri training with the first team does not necessarily mean he is in contention to be included in the matchday squad to face the Bees as Arsenal are known to promote outstanding academy players to first team training just to shadow an upcoming opposition.
Ethan shares the same surname with retired Nigeria international Obinna Nwaneri but the player's father, Obi Nwaneri has informed allnigeriasoccer.com that they are not in anyway related to the former Enyimba captain.
The promising teenager has played up the age groups for Arsenal, making nine appearances for the U18 squad in the U18 Premier League as a schoolboy, while his U21 debut came against Blackburn Rovers exactly two weeks ago.
Arsenal head into the game against Brentford looking to return to the top of the Premier League table with a win.
