Eight things to note on Nigeria's starting lineup against Algeria
Published: September 27, 2022Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro has announced his starting lineup ahead of Tuesday evening's international friendly against Algeria.

1) The eleven players selected in the starting lineup have an average age of 24.64 years, with Kevin Akpoguma and Moses Simon the oldest at 27.
2) Peserio has made three changes to the lineup that thrashed São Tomé and Príncipe 10-0, bringing in Akpoguma, Onyeka and Iheaancho. Victor Osimhen, Semi Ajayi (both injury) and Oghenekaro Etebo (fitness) were not named in the squad for the games in September.
3) Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Kelechi Iheanacho are the only players in the starting lineup who have played in both the UEFA Youth League and UEFA Champions League.
4) Moses Simon is making his nineteenth consecutive appearance for the Super Eagles, more than any other player in the squad. He will wear the captain's armband in the absence of William Troost-Ekong.
5) Hoffenheim defender Akpoguma makes his first international appearance since starting against Sierra Leone in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in November 2020.
6) ) Calvin Bassey and Zaidu Sanusi, who are both predominantly left-backs, start a game together for the second time.
7) Alex Iwobi earns his 58th cap today, equaling former Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
8) Four players have made at least one appearance in a FIFA U20 World Cup : Simon, Akpoguma, Iheanacho and Lookman.
