Aris coach runs the rule over Super Eagles midfielder ahead of potential debut

Aris Thessaloniki's English football tactician Alan Pardew ran the rule over Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo on Wednesday, October 5 with a view to making a decision on whether or not to include him in the matchday squad against AEK Athens.

The former Stoke City star trained for the first time with his new teammates yesterday following his arrival in Thessaloniki on Tuesday.

Etebo trained fully and participated in a practice game during the training session held at the facilities of the Dasygenei Sports Center.

The 26-year-old will be aiming to convince Pardew that he is in good physical condition ahead of Sunday's Super League match versus AEK Athens.

Etebo has not played competitively for club and country since June 13, 2022 when he went the distance against
São Tomé and Príncipe in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The versatile midfielder pushed for a transfer from Stoke City due to a lack of first team opportunities, leading to loan spells at Getafe, Galatasaray and Watford before his switch to Aris.

The Aris players have been given today off and will return to training on Friday morning.
