'It's a wonderful goal' - Former Chelsea striker reacts to Eze's match-winning strike for Eagles
Published: October 09, 2022Former Chelsea forward Sam Parkin praised the quality of the goal scored by Eberechi Eze in Crystal Palace's come from behind 2-1 victory over Leeds United at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.
Fourteen minutes from time, the 2017 Super Eagles invitee decided the game when he slid the ball into the far corner after an excellent team move.
The Crystal Palace number 10 linked up brilliantly with Odsonne Edouard and Wilfried Zaha before sitting Cooper down and slotting home from the edge of the box.
The visitors took the lead through Pascal Struijk in the tenth minute but Edouard put the hosts back on level terms when he headed in a free-kick from Michael Olise in the 24th minute.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, Parkin cited Eze and Michael Olise as he highlighted the Crystal Palace players that can produce moments of magic.
"Eze getting on the ball higher up the pitch has been effective. It's a very comfortable finish from Eze, he just flashes it past the keeper. It's a wonderful goal," Parkin said.
"That's the difference, Palace have got match winners. Olise, Zaha and Eze. They can produce moments out of nothing and Leeds don't have that at the moment. While you have players like Eze, he is liable to do things like that."
Eze's goal today was his first for the Eagles since he got on the scoresheet against Southampton at the end of April.
