Arsenal loanee Balogun gets green light to face Stade Brestois after injury scare in training
Published: October 30, 2022
Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun is in contention to make his thirteenth appearance for Stade de Reims in the French Ligue 1 when they take on Stade Brestois at the Stade Francis-Le Blé on Sunday afternoon.
The Hale End Academy product seemingly passed a fitness test before the trip to Brest, paving the way for his inclusion in the 21-man traveling squad.
Balogun did not complete training on Friday morning after experiencing physical discomfort.
Reims coach said at the pre-match press conference that the Anglo-Nigerian striker withdrew from the training session due to discomfort in the adductors but he should be fine to face Stade Brestois.
Balogun has been Reim's standout performer in 2022-2023, scoring half of the fourteen goals they have netted in the French top-flight, so an absence from the side could be disastrous for The Red and Whites.
Of his seven strikes for Reims, the 21-year-old has opened the scoring on three occasions, against RC Lens, ESTAC Troyes and AJ Auxerre.
In the provisional standings, Reims are in fourteenth place on twelve points after twelve matches.
