Published: November 16, 2022
Victor Osimhen has been recognized for his outstanding performance in 2022, with football statisticians OPTA including him in their Serie A Best XI of 2022.
The Nigeria international tallied nine goals and three assists in the second half of last season and has the same number of goals and assists so far this season.
Since the start of the calendar year, Osimhen has totaled 27 appearances for Napoli in the Serie A, netting eighteen goals.
The 23-year-old has scored a goal every 38 touches on average in Serie A in 2022 (18 goals and 690 touches); the best ratio among players with at least 25 touches in this period.
The highlight of his performance in the Italian topflight in 2022 was scoring his first senior hat-trick in Napoli's 4-0 hammering of
Sassuolo on October 29.
In a 4-3-3 formation picked by OPTA, Osimhen leads the attack and he is flanked by AC Milan's Rafael Leão and Inter Milan's Lautaro Martínez.
The four chosen in defence are Theo Hernandez, Smalling, Kalulu and Di Lorenzo, while Milinkovic-Savic, Barella and Lobotka are the midfielders and Empoli star Vicario the goalkeeper.
