Chelsea's World Cup-bound star names ex-Nigeria invitee as player he enjoyed playing with the most

Chelsea's World Cup-bound midfielder Conor Gallagher has picked Michael Olise as the player he enjoyed playing with the most in his senior career.

Olise and Gallagher were teammates at Crystal Palace last season, with the 2021 Super Eagles invitee joining on a permanent deal from Reading and Gallagher loaned in from his parent club Chelsea.

The France U21 international of Algerian and Nigerian descent made a splash in his maiden season in the Premier League with seven goal contributions (2 goals, 5 assists) in 26 outings.

Quizzed about which player he enjoyed playing with the most at senior level, Gallagher said to JD official, via HITC :  "He [Olise] was in the academy with Chelsea when we were younger and he was always 2 years below me, so I never really knew what he was like. So, I never knew what to expect when he came to Palace,"

"But he was just so exciting, even to play with. You'd give the ball to his feet and you'd kind of expect him to go and do something magic."

The England international went on to tip Olise to have a bright future, saying : "I feel like he's got such a bright future and yeah, just a joy to play with."

Earlier in the year, England manager Gareth Southgate tried convincing Olise to switch allegiance to the Three Lions but the talented winger opted to stick with France.

Olise  has an existing contract with Crystal Palace that is valid until the summer of 2026.
